It only gives a general overview of the history, but it has maps, dispatches, period art and all manner of little immersive items to give you the "feel" of the era. It is more a work of art than a history book. My wife called it a "pop-up book for history nerds." Don't buy this item thinking you|About the Author|Professor Richard Holmes is author of a string of bestsellers, including The D-Day Experience (over 200,000 copies sold). He has presented seven documentary series for the BBC including "War Walks"
